Dr. Uroš Ocepek is the 2022 Teacher of the Year, teaching at the Secondary Technical and Vocational School in Trbovlje. He is a pioneer in introducing artificial intelligence content into the Slovenian education system. Dr. Ocepek is also an innovator – he has received 16 awards for 14 innovations so far, with awards being presented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. He encourages innovation and collaborative work among students. He is the recipient of the highest National Award of the Republic of Slovenia for outstanding achievements in secondary education for 2022. In November 2023, Dr. Ocepek represented Slovenia at the Global Teacher Prize, where he became the first Slovenian teacher to rank among the top 50 teachers in the world. The Zasavje region also named him Zasavje Person of the Year for 2023, and the year before, he received the Mayor's Recognition Award from the Municipality of Trbovlje.
