Women in Science
Yesterday, at Tehnopark Celje, we gathered for an event dedicated to exceptional women and girls in science in honor of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. At Platform 360, we had the opportunity to listen to inspiring female scientists who shared their experiences, challenges, and insights into the future of science. Together, we worked towards building a more equitable scientific community for all. Despite the stereotypes and biases that still mark women's roles in science, we witnessed powerful voices persistently overcoming barriers and paving the way for future generations.
We are grateful to all the participants who helped create this unforgettable experience, and we especially thank our outstanding speakers:
Doc. dr. Katji Klinar
Dr. Ani Oberlintner
Dr. Tanji Goričanec
Prof. dr. Andreji Gomboc
Dr. Nataši Kovačić
And of course, to our collaborator Dr. Maša Jazbec, who excellently moderated the roundtable discussion on Women in Science.
We heard many perspectives on the challenges and opportunities faced by women in scientific professions. We discussed cultural and societal influences and how we can all work together for greater equality in the scientific world. The event also welcomed young girls and women who are paving their way in science, encouraging enthusiasm for STEAM fields among future generations.
We were honored to be greeted by the spouse of the President of Slovenia, Dr. Aleš Musar, who emphasized the importance of women’s roles in science and shared his personal experiences and belief in gender equality in scientific professions.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event, and a special thanks to our inspiring speakers!
