Matjaž Humar is developing edible lasers
Dr. Matjaž Humar from the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) has received a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) project titled EdibleLasers, aimed at developing lasers made from edible materials for use in food, medicine, and other products. These lasers will enable very precise measurement of food properties and have broad applications in medicine, agriculture, industry, environmental monitoring, and drinking water, which will impact the quality of life. Humar, who will complete the ERC Cell-Lasers project next year, is already recognized as a leading researcher who has successfully integrated a laser into cells and studied the generation of entangled photons in organic materials.
