Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology at the University of Nova Gorica
The Center for Astrophysics and Cosmology at the University of Nova Gorica (CAKUNG) is one of the leading research units in Slovenia, dedicated to the study of the universe, astrophysical phenomena, and the fundamental laws of nature at the largest possible scales. The center brings together researchers engaged in interdisciplinary research in the fields of astrophysics, cosmology, high-energy physics, and other related scientific disciplines.
The center is actively involved in numerous international projects and collaborations, such as the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), the Pierre Auger Observatory, Fermi-LAT, and others. It collaborates with organizations such as the European Southern Observatory (ESO) and the European Space Agency (ESA).
It is a key player in integrating Slovenia into the international scientific community in the field of space research. Additionally, it strengthens domestic research capabilities and promotes the development of new technologies and knowledge with broader applications.
