Dr Ana Sandak's research project, REMEDY - Archibiome Tattoo for Resistant, Responsive, and Resilient Cities, is one of the 45 projects selected from the 1110 applications submitted to the European Innovation Council's (EIC) EIC Pathfinder programme. This project explores the use of the microbiome in the construction industry to create resilient, adaptable and sustainable architectural materials that enable carbon sequestration, oxygen production and bioremediation. The aim is to introduce "probiotic architecture" and circular processes in the building sector. Dr Anna Sandak stressed that she is proud of the international recognition and is looking forward to starting work on a breakthrough technology for the building sector that will put Slovenia at the forefront of innovation and sustainable architecture.
