Project SPOZNAJ is an initiative focused on promoting open science in Slovenia. The aim of the project is to establish and support the adoption of open science principles that enable more accessible, transparent, and collaborative research. This represents a shift from traditional, often closed research practices to the open sharing of data, results, and scientific publications, which contributes to greater accessibility of knowledge for the wider public, researchers, and other stakeholders. The project focuses on:

• Promoting open science practices,
• Connecting Slovenian research institutions and scientists with broader European and global networks,
• Supporting researchers in understanding and implementing open science principles (e.g., how to publish in open access, how to share data in line with ethical and legal standards),
• Developing and sharing best practices for using open tools and platforms,
• Adapting institutional and legal frameworks to support open science,
• Contributing to the alignment of open science policies in Slovenia with European strategies, such as the European Commission guidelines and Horizon Europe program,
• Assisting in the creation of national strategies for open access and research data management,
• Connecting researchers, funders, publishers, and other stakeholders to develop shared solutions that promote knowledge accessibility.

This project is significant for the Slovenian scientific community as it helps researchers adapt to the new demands for openness in research, which is becoming increasingly important at the international level.
