Dr. Christa Sommerer and Dr. Laurent Mignonneau are internationally recognized media artists, researchers, and pioneers in interactive art. They are professors and founders of the Master’s program in Interface Cultures at the University of Art and Design Linz, Austria. They have also been professors at the International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS) in Gifu, Japan, and served as researchers and artistic directors at the renowned ATR Media Integration and Communications Laboratory in Kyoto, Japan. Additionally, they have been visiting researchers at MIT's Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS) in Cambridge, USA, the Beckman Institute in Champaign Urbana, IL, USA, and artists-in-residence at the NTT-InterCommunication Center in Tokyo, Japan. Sommerer has been a guest professor at the Obel University in Aalborg, Denmark, and at the University of Tsukuba’s Empowerment Informatics Program in Japan, while Mignonneau has been an international visiting professor at the University of Paris 8 in Paris, France. Sommerer & Mignonneau have participated in over 250 international exhibitions, and their works are housed in museums and collections worldwide. They have received numerous awards, including the ARCO BEEP Award 2016 in Madrid, Spain, the Wu Guanzhong Award for Innovation in Art and Science from the People's Republic of China in 2012, and the Gold NICO Prix Ars Electronica in 1994. They are also recipients of the prestigious Austrian State Prize for Media Art.
