ROBOTKA FRIDA: THE HOSMARTAI PROJECT, DR. IZIDOR MLAKAR
The HosmartAI project, part of the Horizon H2020 initiative, focuses on the smart development of hospitals using artificial intelligence. Project partners are co-creating an open integration framework with tools necessary for integrating digital technologies (artificial intelligence) into the healthcare system. The University of Maribor participates in the project with an exceptionally multidisciplinary team, including experts from FERI (Laboratory for Digital Signal Processing, Laboratory for Cognitive Systems in Mechatronics) and the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts. In close collaboration with the University Medical Centre Maribor, the UM team is developing and validating the integration of social robots into patient care during hospitalization as part of a pilot project. For this purpose, they have enhanced the robotic unit with their own speech technologies (synthesis - TTS PLATOS, recognition - ASR SPREAD), natural behavior synthesis technologies (gestures, conversational agents), computer vision technologies (exercise recognition), autonomy technologies (SLAM), and technologies for interactive behavior planning and robot management.
