A Center for Quantum Science to Be Established at the Jožef Stefan Institute, October 2024
The SQuASH Project (Center for Quantum Science) is an ambitious initiative aimed at fostering research and development in quantum science and technology. The project seeks to bring together experts from diverse scientific fields, including physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering, to advance cutting-edge quantum technologies such as quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and quantum communications.
Researchers involved in the project explore how quantum properties, such as superposition and entanglement, can contribute to the creation of new technologies that surpass the capabilities of classical systems.
SQuASH is also committed to training the next generation of scientists and engineers in quantum technologies through doctoral programs, workshops, and specialized education.
The project promotes international collaboration between research institutions and industry, accelerating the development and application of quantum technologies. Partnerships with industry stakeholders ensure that research outcomes are translated into practical innovations, benefiting sectors like security, communications, and computing.
With plans to bring 40 international researchers to Slovenia, SQuASH aims to position the country as a key player in the global quantum science community.
